Buzzing country singer/songwriter Hannah McFarland is back with a brand-new single, “Called It,” a tender, bittersweet ballad that showcases why she’s quickly becoming one of the most captivating young voices in country music.

The track arrives fresh off her much-talked-about Grand Ole Opry debut on October 31, marking an exciting new chapter for the Alabama native turned Nashville rising star.

A Song About the Heartbreak You Can’t Quite Shake

“Called It” digs into a feeling many know too well — when someone who let you go suddenly decides you’re not allowed to move on. McFarland describes the song as a shared emotional moment:

“It’s something I have a feeling a lot of people have dealt with… it makes us feel a little less alone when we’re able to relate to each other through music.”

The song’s emotional pull lies in its realism. It captures that moment when an ex reaches out the exact night you’re most vulnerable — a situation McFarland admits she “called” long before it happened.

Crafted With Nashville Heavy Hitters

“Called It” reunites McFarland with producer Zach Abend (HARDY, Nate Smith) and brings in co-writer Ben Williams, known for hits like Megan Moroney’s “Tennessee Orange.” Together, they’ve built a track steeped in soulful vocals, confessional lyrics, and the kind of raw honesty McFarland is quickly becoming known for.

The production blends:

  • Acoustic guitar and background vocals from Zach Abend

  • Luminous steel guitar by Justin Schipper (Kelsea Ballerini, Kacey Musgraves)

  • Banjo and acoustic layers from Tim Galloway (Tucker Wetmore, Little Big Town)

From the first verse — “I poured a glass and lit a candle / How’d you know tonight I just can’t handle this?” — to the gut-punch chorus, the song builds into a stunning final moment that highlights her ability to turn vulnerability into power.

A Breakout Year for a Rising Country Force

2025 has been a milestone year for McFarland. Her debut EP Broken Hearts earned praise from NPR and landed her on Hits Daily Double’s New & Developing Artists list — an honor previously given to artists like Luke Combs and Chris Stapleton.

Since then, she’s continued to grow her audience through:

  • “Foolin’,” her collaboration with Chase Rice

  • Featured spots on Riley Green’s “I Just Need You”

  • And Brett Young’s “In Case You Didn’t Know 2.0.”

Entertainment Focus called her a “rising country artist whose warm voice, honest songwriting and stage presence have quickly won her a place in the modern country scene.”

On Tour Now — and Stagecoach 2026 Ahead

McFarland is currently on the road supporting Riley Green’s Damn Country Music Tour, with more dates coming in spring 2026. She’s already built a strong touring résumé — sharing stages with Chase Rice, Kip Moore, and Tucker Wetmore — and next year she’ll make her debut at Stagecoach, one of the biggest country festivals in the world.
