South London’s breakout star LeoStayTrill is kicking off the new year on a high note with the release of his latest single, “Blessing.” The track finds the young rap prodigy in a reflective and hopeful mood, pairing soaring, choral-style vocals on the chorus with his signature sharp and agile flow on the verses. It is his first release since dropping his recent EP Last Quarter at the end of November, and it signals the start of an exciting new chapter in his rapidly accelerating career.

“Blessing” continues Leo’s evolution as an artist, pushing his Afro-Drill sound into new territory. The song introduces a more anthemic, almost choir-like energy that adds emotional weight to the gratitude and optimism at its core. While the hook delivers the big-picture message, Leo’s verses bring in his personal thoughts and perspective, giving the track both scale and intimacy.

The single follows November’s “Patience” featuring French breakout R2, a focused and introspective anthem about discipline and staying locked in on your goals. That collaboration came on the heels of R2 scoring two top-20 singles in France, and the pairing highlighted Leo’s ability to match melody and emotion with equally driven collaborators.

Leo’s momentum has been building all year. His debut EP Home Alone, released in May, was met with an overwhelming fan response and helped solidify him as one of the most exciting new voices in UK rap. With co-signs from the likes of Dave and Ed Sheeran and rapidly climbing streaming numbers, the Bromley-born artist has been steadily expanding his reach. Home Alone followed the viral success of “Hands on Knees” featuring K-Trap, which racked up millions of teaser views and thousands of fan-made videos online.

Live, Leo has been just as impactful. After a standout appearance at Nigeria’s Our Homecoming Festival, he returned to the UK to sell out shows in Manchester, Birmingham, and London on his Home Alone tour. In late 2024, he also delivered his first sold-out headline show at The Camden Assembly, where he surprised fans by bringing out ArrDee and Tion Wayne. With more than 140 million Spotify streams, two MOBO Award nominations, and a support slot for Asake at London’s O2 Arena, Leo has quickly become one of the most talked-about names in the scene.

His rise has been fast and unmistakable. Tracks like “Honeybun,” which has surpassed six million streams, and the viral freestyle “Pink Lemonade” helped push him into the global spotlight. A run of high-profile collaborations, including work with 163Margs, ArrDee, Tion Wayne, MJ Cole, and others, has only reinforced his reputation as one of the hardest-working young artists in the game.

Behind the scenes, Leo’s story is just as compelling. Born in London to Zimbabwean parents and raised in South London, he taught himself how to produce and began making music at a young age. His long-running partnership with producer Xeretto, which began when they were barely teenagers, has been central to shaping his sound — a distinctive blend of drill’s urgency, afro-swing melody, and the multicultural rhythm of London.

With “Blessing,” LeoStayTrill is not just celebrating how far he has come, but also setting the tone for what lies ahead. If this new single is any indication, 2026 is shaping up to be another major year for one of the UK’s most exciting young talents.
