Multi-JUNO nominated alternative-pop band Valley are officially back with their new single “Vending Machine,” out now through Capitol Records/Universal Music Canada. Released alongside an official music video, the track marks the group’s first new music in nearly two years following their third studio album, Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden.
Comprised of Rob Laska on lead vocals and guitar, Alex Dimauro on bass, and Karah James on vocals and drums, Valley use “Vending Machine” to open the door to their next era. The song begins with the provocative question, “do you need to be entertained?,” setting the tone for a playful, nostalgic alt-pop record with a sharper emotional core underneath.
At its center, “Vending Machine” examines the give-and-take of relationships that can feel conditional, transactional, and performative. The band compares that feeling to being treated like something that only exists to provide comfort, attention, validation, or entertainment on demand.
“‘Vending Machine’ is a song about transactional relationships with people. A Vending Machine exists to give things on demand. It doesn't have needs or emotions. People only approach it when they want something. A source of comfort, attention, validation, or entertainment. It's love that depends on output, not connection.”
The release also arrives as Valley prepare to reconnect with fans on stage. This summer, the band will make several live appearances across Canada, including Osheaga, Rock The Park, Area 506 Festival, Jubilee Festival, and the Pigeon Lake Concert Series. They are also scheduled to perform at The Theatre at Grand Canadian Resort in Etobicoke, ON, supporting The All-American Rejects.

ABOUT VALLEY
Since forming in 2016 after a chance studio double booking brought two high school bands together, Valley have built a global following with emotionally charged indie-pop, nostalgic hooks, and sharply observant songwriting. The band broke through with their Gold-certified anthem “Like 1999” and have since amassed more than 1.2 billion global streams, while performing alongside acts including Post Malone, Lennon Stella, Dermot Kennedy, COIN, and The Band CAMINO.
With “Vending Machine,” Valley lean into a bigger, more uninhibited sound while keeping the emotional honesty and euphoric chaos that have shaped their identity from the beginning.
