At just 18 years old, rising country artist Baylee Lynn is making a serious first impression with her debut EP Heart On My Sleeve, out now via The Core Records. The six-track project introduces her as a deeply emotional storyteller, blending classic country roots with a modern pop sensibility.
Leading the release is her newest single, “Counting Tiles,” a stripped-down, piano-driven ballad that arrives alongside a visually intimate music video. The track closes out the EP and leaves a lasting mark, capturing the raw aftermath of heartbreak in a way that feels both personal and universally relatable.
A Strong Start With Real Momentum
The EP opens with “Cautiously Optimistic,” a breakout moment that already turned heads — even topping Billboard’s new music poll with 64% of the vote, outperforming major names like Sabrina Carpenter. The track sets the tone early: honest, reflective, and quietly confident.
Across the project, Baylee leans into both strength and vulnerability. Songs like “Heard That” bring a more self-assured energy, while “That’s What I’ll Be” slows things down with a bittersweet emotional pull (and even lands on the Nobody Wants This Season 2 soundtrack).
Behind the boards, AJ Pruis helps shape the sound — keeping things rooted in country-pop while allowing Baylee’s soulful vocals to take center stage.
“Counting Tiles” Hits Where It Hurts
“Counting Tiles” stands out as one of the EP’s most affecting moments. Built around a simple piano arrangement, the song follows the emotional spiral of a breakup — with Baylee literally counting bathroom tiles as a coping mechanism.
It starts quietly, almost fragile, before building into a powerful emotional release. By the time the bridge hits, the song fully opens up, delivering one of the most memorable moments on the project.
The music video, directed by Kate Bowling, mirrors that vulnerability. Shot in a pink-tiled bathroom, the visual keeps things minimal and focused, letting Baylee’s performance carry the emotional weight.
From Small-Town Roots to a Breakout Moment
Originally from Greeneville, Tennessee, Baylee’s musical foundation runs deep. She started singing in church, picked up guitar at six, and began writing songs by 13 — heavily inspired by country icons like Dolly Parton.
Now based in Nashville, she’s quickly building a reputation as a compelling live performer, recently joining Maddox Batson on tour in early 2026 — a move that’s only expanding her reach.
