Rising country singer-songwriter Brandon Wisham is opening his heart on his confessional new single, “Good Grief.” The slow-burning power ballad marks one of the most vulnerable moments yet from the 23-year-old artist, offering a cathartic reflection on losing his father to COVID.

Produced by Matt Geroux (Josh Ross, Just Jayne), “Good Grief” unfolds with aching guitar lines, bittersweet piano melodies, and gently swaying rhythms that frame Wisham’s assured, emotionally raw vocal performance. The track captures how grief quietly seeps into every corner of life—persistent, overwhelming, and impossible to ignore.
“To me, ‘Good Grief’ is a song about love—a love so extreme, without anywhere to go,” Wisham shares. “We’ve all lost someone or will lose someone who’s close to our hearts. This song speaks to the struggles you experience when living without that person beside you anymore.”
Co-written by Wisham alongside Josh Jenkins, Josh Dorr, and Dylan Guthro, the song opens with poetic restraint before building toward a devastatingly honest chorus. Lines like “I feel you knockin’ on my chest / Subtle as a hurricane” portray grief as an unseen force, while the refrain longs for a time before loss changed everything. Though steeped in pain and frustration, “Good Grief” ultimately lands on a powerful truth: the depth of grief reflects the depth of love.
Already known as a commanding live performer, Wisham has previously shared stages with artists like Bailey Zimmerman, a frequent collaborator. He’ll return to the road next month for a run of dates with Priscilla Block, followed by an expansive North American tour supporting multi-platinum hitmaker Nate Smith. Highlights include a two-night stand at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on June 17 and 18, as well as his highly anticipated debut at Stagecoach later this spring.
“Good Grief” follows a strong run of releases that have steadily showcased Wisham’s range and authenticity. After earning recognition as a SiriusXM The Highway “Highway Find,” he made his debut with the Southern rock-leaning “Back Together,” praised by All Country News as a “stunning showcase of his raw, unfiltered artistry.” Subsequent tracks like “Growin’ Up,” “She’s Good,” “Better Than The Day,” and “Whiskey’s Whisperin’” have further cemented him as a young artist unafraid to balance grit, vulnerability, and classic country storytelling.
With “Good Grief,” Brandon Wisham delivers his most intimate statement yet—one that transforms personal loss into a universally resonant song about love, memory, and healing.
