Multi-platinum UK singer-songwriter Calum Scott is officially back with his third studio album, Avenoir, out now via Capitol Records. The 14-track project dives deep into love, loss, and self-discovery—showing just how far Calum has come as a vocalist and songwriter.

A Title That Looks Back to Move Forward
Avenoir takes its name from a word coined in John Koenig’s The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows—describing “the desire that memory could flow backward.” Calum embraced that concept fully, reflecting:
“We move through life like a rower: moving forward but facing backward, seeing where we’ve been but not where we’re going.”
The result is a collection of songs that look honestly at regret, sorrow, and love that refuses to fade.
From Heartbreaking Ballads to Groove-Filled Anthems
Fans who love Calum’s signature emotional ballads will find plenty to hold onto with tracks like “Die For You” and “God Knows.” But the album also shows a bolder, more experimental side.
“Unsteady” — a standout new track with gritty guitar riffs and lyrics about embracing your imperfections. Watch the visualizer here.
“Peripheral Vision” and “Roots” — unexpected, high-energy moments that stretch Calum’s sound into funk and club territory.
“One More Drink” — a country-tinged duet with Lauren Alaina.
And perhaps most jaw-dropping of all: a stunning duet version of I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me) featuring vocals from the late Whitney Houston, officially approved by her estate.
This reimagined version turns the iconic dance track into a symphonic slow-burn—a heartfelt tribute to Whitney’s legacy as the world celebrates the 40th anniversary of her legendary career.
The Creative Process: Confidence Meets Freedom
Calum recorded much of the album alongside longtime collaborator Jon “MAGS” Maguire and production duo The Nocturns. He describes feeling a new sense of creative confidence:
“I realized I’ve put my foot firmly in the door of the music industry. I’m capable of doing more than I thought — and that gave me a whole new sense of freedom.”
That self-assurance is clear in every note—from the soaring high register on “Mad,” a tender letter to his future child, to the layered production throughout the album.
A Global Tour to Match the Moment
To celebrate the album, Calum is launching The Avenoir Tour—a 48-city run spanning Europe, South Africa, Asia, North America, and the UK. North American stops include major venues like The Wiltern in Los Angeles and Terminal 5 in New York City.
