The mysterious duo TOMORA — made up of AURORA and Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers — just released their stunning new single “SOMEWHERE ELSE.” The drop also came with a Zane Lowe Apple Music Premiere and an in-depth interview breaking down the origins of the project.
A Song That Feels Cosmic — and Physical
“SOMEWHERE ELSE” might be one of the purest expressions of what this duo is building.
The track opens with an otherworldly vocal melody that feels like it’s drifting in from another galaxy — unmistakably AURORA — before locking into a heavy, blissed-out rhythm that pulses beneath it. What starts as celestial slowly transforms into something more intimate and harder to define. It’s euphoric and grounded at the same time. Familiar, but slightly off-center. Addictive in a way that lingers.
AURORA calls it one of the first songs they ever wrote together:
“It opened up a big door for us, into our world.”
Tom Rowlands says that the melody has been living in his head ever since she first sang it to him. The duo even tested an early version at Glastonbury — and knew immediately they had something special. Now it’s officially out in the world.
From Mystery Name to Major Festival Moment
TOMORA first sparked speculation when the name appeared on the 2026 Coachella lineup poster — with zero explanation. No backstory. No music. Just the name. With the debut album COME CLOSER arriving April 17 via Capitol Records, the mystery is now unfolding in real time.
The album will feature 12 tracks and will be available digitally, on CD, standard black vinyl, and limited-edition color vinyl. “SOMEWHERE ELSE” follows February’s title track “COME CLOSER” and their December debut single “RING THE ALARM,” which earned praise from SPIN, Brooklyn Vegan, Stereogum, and DJ Mag — the latter highlighting its intense bass and infectious vocal hook.
Live Debuts Incoming
TOMORA won’t stay studio-bound for long.
March 25 – First-ever live show at New Century Hall in Manchester
April 12 & 19 – Coachella debut sets
April 14 – Regency Ballroom, San Francisco
April 16 – The El Rey Theatre, Los Angeles
Festival fields and packed dancefloors are about to experience this chemistry in full force.
What Is COME CLOSER?
This isn’t a side project. And it’s not two artists meeting in the middle.
COME CLOSER sounds like two innovators colliding and pushing each other further than expected. It draws from everywhere — the psychedelic edges of the 1960s, warehouse-ready electronics, and futuristic sounds that feel like they belong decades from now.
It’s ambitious, immersive, and deliberately human in a time dominated by algorithms.
TOMORA feels less like a collaboration and more like the start of something entirely new.
