Nashville-based trio Deltona are back with a fresh dose of country-rock soul. Their latest single, “How To Not Help A Heartbreak,” is out now, alongside a playful lyric video you can watch [HERE].

A Breakup Song With a Twist
The band calls the track “a breakup song with a little edge” — and they’re not wrong. It’s about those all-too-relatable moments where, instead of healing, you keep making choices that only make heartbreak worse. With tongue-in-cheek humor and raw honesty, the lyrics dive into the ugly aftermath of a split:
“Forgot to put the joint out/‘Bout burned the house down/Heartbreak bender on ten.”
Produced by Jason Massey (Cole Swindell, Kelsea Ballerini), the song layers Ned Abernathy’s gritty vocals, Caleb Miller’s fiery guitar work, and Chris Deaton’s pounding drums into a midtempo anthem that feels both fun and cathartic. Co-writers include Jacob Scherer and platinum-selling songwriter Canaan Smith (who’s penned hits for Cody Johnson and Jason Aldean).
Why It Works
Between the soaring chorus — “Pourin’ bourbon on it only makes it worse/Much as I’ve tried, man, you think I’d learn” — and a blistering guitar solo at the bridge, the track proves Deltona have a knack for turning heartbreak into something you’ll want to sing (and laugh) along with.
The lyric video leans into the humor, flashing each line across a chalkboard like breakup advice scribbled in frustration.
Building Momentum
“How To Not Help A Heartbreak” follows on the heels of their singles “Love Don’t Love Me” and “Heartbreak Fix,” both of which helped establish their reputation for arena-sized hooks and Southern storytelling.
In just a few months, Deltona have built serious buzz — nearly 14K TikTok followers, opening slots for country heavy-hitters like Rodney Atkins, George Birge, Cooper Alan, and Avery Anna, and growing attention for their high-energy live shows.
The Backstory
Though they hail from three different states (Georgia, Tennessee, and Ohio), Deltona came together at a writers’ round at Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Café. Their chemistry was instant, and since then they’ve been blending tradition, humor, and heartache into a sound that feels as authentic as it is loud.
With “How To Not Help A Heartbreak” out now, it’s clear Deltona are just getting started — and country fans should definitely keep them on their radar.
