Seventeen years after its debut, Empire of the Sun’s Walking On A Dream still stands tall as one of the most beloved songs in modern music. Now, the Australian duo are breathing new life into their iconic track with Walking On A Dream (Reimagined) — a seven-track EP that reshapes the song through fresh remixes and global collaborations. Out now via EMI AUS / Capitol Records, the project reintroduces the dreamlike anthem to both longtime fans and a new generation of listeners.

The Long-Awaited “Resurrection” Remix

At the heart of the EP is the long-anticipated mashup, Walking On A Dream (Resurrection). French DJ Michael Calfan’s 2011 progressive house classic Resurrection (Axwell Recut) is fused with Empire’s original vocals, creating a euphoric festival moment that’s already become a crowd favorite. Axwell has been dropping it live at Ultra, Tomorrowland, and beyond — now fans can finally stream it officially.

“This track has always been a massive moment in my sets,” says Axwell. “I’m so pleased it’s finally seeing an official release.”

Global Remixers Join the Celebration

The EP doesn’t stop there. It also features:

  • BLOND:ISH – a club-ready remix with her signature festival-friendly energy.

  • Marlon Hoffstadt – a 90s trance-inspired rework that’s pure adrenaline.

  • TEED (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs) – a nostalgia-soaked reimagining.

  • Kaskade’s classic remix – a longtime fan favorite.

  • Wiz Khalifa’s The Thrill – his platinum single that samples the track.

Together, these versions showcase just how versatile Walking On A Dream has become across genres and decades.

A Song That Defined an Era

When Walking On A Dream first dropped in 2008, it was an instant classic. The psychedelic visuals, theatrical performances, and shimmering synth-pop sound made Empire of the Sun a global force. The track climbed to #10 on the ARIA Charts, landed at #4 on triple j’s Hottest 100, and even cracked the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 years later thanks to a Honda Civic ad. Today, it has racked up more than 2 billion streams and remains one of Australia’s most celebrated songs of all time.
