Rising alt-rock trio People I’ve Met are back with their latest single, “For Hire,” out today via Interscope Records. The track builds on the momentum of the band’s late-2025 debut while showing off a looser, more playful side of their sound.

Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Moses Martin alongside drummer Orlando Wiltshire and bassist Andrew Suster, People I’ve Met first turned heads with their debut single “Promise,” which earned praise from NME for its euphoric chorus. Longtime collaborators Wiltshire and Suster first met in middle school jazz band, later making music together in a garage before bringing Martin into the project. Both “Promise” and “For Hire” were self-produced by the band alongside Noah Conrad (known for his work with Chappell Roan and Role Model).
According to Martin, “For Hire” was written as a conscious shift in tone. “After ‘Promise,’ we wanted to have some fun to show our range and provide a different perspective on getting over someone,” he explains. The standout lyric — “you’re not getting us for hire” — captures the core message: setting boundaries and refusing to be available only on someone else’s terms.
Sonically, the track trades “Promise”’s poetic restraint for a rush of raw, conflicting emotions. A buoyant melody and layered vocals frame a narrator who owns his missteps while drawing a clear line in the sand — a relatable evolution in the aftermath of heartbreak.
The New York City-based band (formerly known as DANCER) will play their first show of 2026 on February 12 at Main Drag Music, with Jaden Andreone opening. The show follows a strong 2025 run that included supporting Royel Otis on select dates and a series of buzzed-about hometown performances at Baby’s All Right, cementing People I’ve Met as a fast-rising presence in NYC’s alt-rock scene.
With “For Hire,” the band proves they’re not just building momentum — they’re defining their voice.
