The Rolling Stones Release Soulful New Single “Jealous Lover” Ahead of Foreign Tongues

The Rolling Stones are back with “Jealous Lover,” the latest single from their forthcoming studio album, Foreign Tongues. The album is scheduled for release on July 10 through Capitol Records.

The new song arrives alongside a music video directed by Chris Barrett and Luke Taylor, whose previous work includes projects with Radiohead and Jack White. The visual stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Charles Melton and premiered exclusively through Amazon Music.

The Stones Lean Into Soul and R&B

Following the upbeat pop-rock energy of the previous single, “In The Stars,” the band shifts into a soulful R&B groove on “Jealous Lover.” Mick Jagger leads the track with a striking falsetto performance, delivering a sharp warning to an overly curious partner with the humor and attitude that have long defined his songwriting.

Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood provide the song’s expressive guitar interplay, while Darryl Jones and Steve Jordan anchor the rhythm section. Steve Winwood adds Rhodes and organ textures, with producer Andrew Watt and keyboardist Matt Clifford contributing additional instrumentation.

A Second Track Features Robert Smith

“Jealous Lover” is paired with another Foreign Tongues track titled “Divine Intervention.” The song is one of two tracks on the upcoming album featuring The Cure frontman Robert Smith, who contributes electric guitar.

Together, the new releases showcase the band’s ability to move between styles while maintaining the chemistry that has defined The Rolling Stones for more than six decades.

The band has also released the first episode of Speaking In Tongues, a six-part podcast exploring the inspiration, writing, and recording of Foreign Tongues. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood discuss their creative process alongside Andrew Watt, Robert Smith, Steve Winwood, and cover artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn.

The series is hosted by Norah Jones, a lifelong Rolling Stones fan and occasional collaborator.
